Abstract
During current circumstances of COVID-19 crisis, communities are becoming more vulnerable and devastated physically, mentally, and their overall well-being. Without question, we urban designers and planners can do something to help people recover from the current crisis, and be better prepared for the next one. According to existing literature, we are going to face more pandemics, more often and more vigorous. We have to utilize what is happening right now as a catalyst and motivation to build a more resilient community to the newly emerging infectious diseases. This paper presents some highlights on the current circumstances and draws some recommendations and challenges to be considered when planning to respond to the next pandemic outbreak.
