The contemporary World is faced with significant changes and evaluating the amount and depth of these changes is a challenge.

To correctly estimate the future of urbanism, it is important to consider the transformative trends in society's lifestyle and pay attention to the philosophy and understanding of lifestyle.  For example, the fundamental impact that social media and the tiny border between virtual and physical space has had on society.

This year, the world is faced with the serious challenge of COVID-19. It is an example of unexpected event that exists in the ever-changing lifestyle of humanity. It has completely changed the global situation, such as human relationships, working conditions and multi-dimensional subjects.

To create a realistic approach to such a strange circumstance we need to understand priorities and necessities of a new world that promote sustainability. We need to accept this important message for the future and try to convince each other that a transformative process is needed step by step.

In this area, planning has a fundamental role, but planning that is based on better and more informative urban data. Is crucial to establish knowledge and estimation about the future of urbanism through new dimensions and imaginations. To change this urban paradigm, planning should focus on the quality of space and urban architecture that prioritizes a sustainable future.

In a sustainable world, a post-oil world, a lot of fundamental changes are expected. Creativity and innovation are important and acknowledging the value of knowledge. Learning from the past and removing limitation about the future. Based on this, it is important that everyone comes together to work and think collaboratively and create a focused and deep philosophy for urban life. This is a fundamental need.

I look forward to the ISOCARP 56th World Planning Congress to provide a more thoughtful conversation about a sustainable urban future.

Thank you
