Abstract
The development course of contemporary Berlin is characterized by obvious difference between east and west, and great difference in urban construction goals at different stages. The concrete manifestations are as follows: bounded by the Berlin wall, east and west Berlin have great differences in urban form, spatial structure and other aspects in the course of historical development. With the establishment and destruction of the Berlin wall as the boundary, the characteristics of urban construction have changed from artificial separation to gradual integration. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, some of the difference between East and West Berlin decreased, and the city tended to develop toward the center. For now, there are still four existing contours of the remaining Berlin Wall : (1) The Berlin Wall memorial, in this place, there are 220 meters from the reserved wall, the other is deleted and on the site, now there is a row of iron columns . (2) The tracks of death , now it's green space and it's part of the green system in East Berlin. (3) Topography of Terrors, in this part, the Berlin Wall keeps well, the length is just behind The East Side Gallery. There are reserved underground dungeons. To the east of the wall there is Stalinist concrete architecture , the buildings are regular and symmetrical. However, on the west side, the styles of architecture are varied, as classic and modern. (4) The streets set up different atmospheres in the life of city dwellers. Standing in the center of the wall to observe the landscape of the two parts, we can find that in the east the style of the buildings is industrial, most of the color is cool, like gray or white. To the east is the Berlin wall , there are trams running which does not exist in the west. According to the west, the buildings are residential with warm tone. The colors are also varied. One of the biggest reasons for difference and change is the difference between the two ideologies. The Berlin wall is the materialized expression of the differentiated ideology in space. The Berlin wall has had a huge impact on the construction of modern Berlin and may continue to have a hidden impact for the foreseeable future. Symbolization in the "Berlin wall" of the object of study as a starting point for research, field research and historical data in combination with the author, for the 1961 Berlin all kinds of urban planning strategy in the urban construction and urban image comparative analysis, summarizes the policy differentiation of Berlin, to summarizes the establishment and collapse of the Berlin wall effect on the metabolism of Berlin city construction. The article is divided into four parts. Firstly, based on the results of field research, the differences, similarities and connections of urban space in Berlin are summarized. Then, based on the historical data, the change of urban land use type in Berlin after 1961 is analyzed. This paper summarizes the urban texture, block changes and important planning ideas after the establishment and collapse of the Berlin wall. After that, potsdamer platz, an important connection between east and west Berlin, is analyzed as a concrete case in the history of urban construction in Berlin, and its historical evolution and spatial structure are analyzed. Meanwhile, the "critical reconstruction" is put forward. Finally, based on the current "Berlin 2030" planning strategy and the conclusions of previous studies, the future development trend of east and west Berlin is predicted.
