Principles of open urban spaces design based on social trust model and enhancing paticipation

Abstract
Aim: Considering the effects of open urban spaces on citizens, the aim of the study is to provide guidelines to design urban open space’s to enhance level of social trust and participation in Tehran's urban districts. This can be done through increasing the level of local connections and providing the appropriate for social interactions. Methods: In this research a quantitative-qualitative research method is applied. Also the Delphi system of gathering data is used to produce content-table and questionnaires. According to Kline, the sample size is calculated around 190. Local citizens were questioned using randomized cluster sampling. Results: The data was evaluated in SPSS software program version of 22 using R factor analysis to produce analytical model in Amos. The results of the research indicate that physical aspects of space including: diversity of spaces and elements, flexibility, cognitive ability of space, comfort in physical space, psychological comfort, pedestrian accessibility, Interaction and trust and sociability of space affect the changes of social trust in urban open spaces. Conclusion: urban open spaces are physical sites as well as social sets. Peoples’ behavior, abilities and space applications can be affected by spatial characteristics of these spaces and lead to acquiring social trust.
