Abstract
The spread of novel coronavirus has become a public health emergency of international concern. It is important that communities, as basic units of epidemic prevention, are empowered with virus spread control abilities. As the most accessible public space, Community green space system has a positive influence on both mental and physical health of residents, especially during the epidemic. Therefore, it is necessary to identify spatial design factors of community green space system which promote residents' activities. In this paper, five typical communities in Yangpu district, Shanghai are selected as research cases, twenty-five major outdoor activity Spaces from those communities are contrastively analyzed. By giving out questionnaires, visiting neighborhood committees, and conducting field research, this paper records the site characteristics and spatial component elements of twenty-five activity spaces, as well as analyzes the connectivity degree between the activity areas within each community. Then, this paper observes the physical activities in each activity space. It quantitatively analyzes the correlation between the diversity of physical activities and spatial design factors of community green space system. Eventually, this paper identifies the site characteristic and spatial component elements that affect the diversity of physical activities, analyzes the correlation between spatial connectivity and activity diversity, and explores the design strategies of optimizing community green space based on the results.
