Abstract
In the process of global aging, the precise allocation and the mode of intensive development of residents' daily living space are facing multiple challenges. Daily living space is the basic carrier of residents' daily behaviors and activities, as well as the spatial reflection of human needs. It has multiple attributes such as time, space and humanism. Based on the theories of time geography and behavior science, this study starts from the interpretation of the space-time behavior characteristics of the elderly in Beilin District of Xi 'an, investigating and judge the internal relationship between the space-time behavior of the elderly and the living space.Furthermore, the theoretical framework of the coupling mechanism between the spatial and temporal behavior of the elderly and their living space is established, guiding behavior-space to promote and coordinate development with each other in multiple directions and at multiple levels, with a multiplier effect to form a highly compatible human-earth coupling system. Based on the coupling mechanism, this paper constructs the behavior-spatial coupling measurement index system and coupling evaluation matrix. Health, efficiency, fairness, and sociality are used to measure living space; travel mode, behavioral preferences, and behavioral decisions are used to measure the space-time behavior of the elderly. Diagnosing the existing problems of the spatial layout of living facilities in Beilin District of Xi'an City through coupling measurement and evaluation,Including: (1) There is a contradiction between the spatial layout of disordered facilities and the behavioral characteristics of the elderly; (2) The spatial differentiation of the supply of living facilities and the behavioral needs of the elderly; (3) The homogenized facilities configuration and the connotative development of living space contradiction. This paper proposes to construct a suitable aging space structure of "node-connection-network":(1)by supplementing shortcomings and digging up stock space; (2) reasonably arranging the time series of node space usage;(3)building a health corridor to promote the internal and external linkage of nodes; (4)casting a networked spatial pattern with behavioral flow as a carrier. Then optimize the space of urban living facilities and effectively guide the healthy behavior of the elderly. This paper aims to provide a research framework and technical route for the exploration of the suitable aging layout of living space in Beilin District of Xi'an from the perspective of human-earth coupling.
